Explore the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal's role in transnational law through arbitration.
About
The event titled 'Transnational Orders through Arbitration: Basketball Arbitral Tribunal and Ex Aequo et Bono Decision-Making' will delve into the unique contributions of the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) to the development of transnational law through arbitration. Since its inception around twenty years ago, BAT has successfully established a precedent-based jurisprudence that has created principles of transnational basketball law. This session aims to provide insights into the practical implications of ex aequo et bono decision-making and its potential lessons for the broader international arbitration landscape.
Dr. Velimir Živković, an Associate Professor and Director of LLM at the University of Warwick School of Law, will be the guest speaker. His expertise encompasses international investment, commercial and sports arbitration, and he has published works on the rule of law. The event will feature an interactive format, encouraging participant engagement, and will conclude with a Q&A session. Due to limited capacity, early registration is advised.
The event is scheduled for 29 January 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, at the Finley/Berkowitz lecture hall at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Attendees are reminded that photographs may be taken during the event for promotional purposes.
