About
On April 27, 2026, New York University School of Law's Intesa Sanpaolo Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial Law will host a lecture by Honorable Judge Fabienne Schaller. The lecture, titled 'The Evolution of French Arbitration Law: Teachings from Recent Case Law', will delve into significant decisions made by the International Commercial Chamber of the Cour d'Appel de Paris during 2024 and 2025. Judge Schaller, who previously served as President of this chamber, will discuss various topics including arbitrability, competence-competence, challenges of arbitrators, annulment of arbitral awards, and the recognition and enforcement of foreign awards.
Judge Schaller's extensive background includes her role as an Appeal Judge in the Commercial Division of the Paris Court of Appeal and her experience at the Ministry of Justice, where she participated in negotiations for EU directives on procedural safeguards. Her insights will provide valuable perspectives on how recent case law is shaping the French arbitration regime and its implications for international arbitration practices.
This in-person event promises to be an enlightening experience for legal professionals, scholars, and students interested in arbitration law and its evolving landscape.
