About
The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is launching its MediMonday Lecture Series with an inaugural session titled 'The Singapore Convention on Mediation: New Horizons for International Settlement Agreements.' Scheduled for Monday, 6 April 2026, this event will feature Dr. Khaled Serry, an Assistant Professor at Ain Shams University and former Chairman of The Egyptian Stock Exchange, as the speaker, with Ms. Fatma Ibrahim serving as the moderator.
This lecture aims to delve into the transformative impact of the Singapore Convention on Mediation, which enhances the enforceability of cross-border mediated settlement agreements. It will provide a comprehensive overview of the Convention's legal framework, its implications for dispute resolution practitioners, and the broader policy shift towards consensual dispute resolution in international commerce.
Particular focus will be given to Egypt's recent accession to the Convention and how it positions the country within the global mediation landscape. The session will also address the Convention's scope, enforcement mechanisms, and potential challenges in implementation, making it a valuable opportunity for practitioners, businesses, and policymakers in Egypt and the Arab region to engage with contemporary developments in mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
