CIArb Australia – 10th Pre Moot
The 10th Pre Moot by CIArb Australia fosters young arbitrators through simulated hearings in Sydney.
About
The CIArb Australia Pre-Moot 2026, held on March 4-5 in Sydney, is an annual event that brings together law students and experienced arbitrators. This initiative aims to support emerging arbitrators as they prepare for prestigious competitions like the Willem C. Vis Moot in Vienna and the Vis (East) Moot in Hong Kong. Participants engage in simulated hearings of international commercial arbitration cases, enhancing their advocacy skills and gaining valuable insights from distinguished professionals in the field.
The event serves as a cornerstone for the Australian arbitration community, showcasing the talents of students from various universities. This year, the University of Queensland team triumphed over the University of Sydney, earning a place in the Introduction to International Arbitration course. The Pre-Moot not only facilitates skill development but also creates a vibrant atmosphere for networking and collaboration among young legal minds and seasoned arbitrators.
Organized by the CIArb Australia Young Members Group, the Pre-Moot is a significant highlight of the Institute's annual program. It reflects CIArb Australia's commitment to fostering the career development of students and young members through various initiatives. The event is supported by numerous sponsors and volunteers from the arbitration community, ensuring a successful and enriching experience for all participants.
