Bucharest Arbitration Days

The Bucharest Arbitration Days 2026 focuses on evolving principles of evidence in international arbitration.

About

The 7th Edition of the Bucharest Arbitration Days (BArD 2026) will delve into the critical theme of 'Evidence in International Arbitration: Evolving Principles and Practices'. This conference aims to explore how evidentiary principles are essential for the legitimacy and efficiency of international arbitration, particularly in a rapidly changing global environment. Building on the previous year's focus on access to justice and due process, BArD 2026 will reassess the role of evidence as a vital link between fact, law, and persuasion. Participants will engage in discussions about admissibility, privilege, and proof across various legal traditions, while also addressing contemporary issues such as digital and AI-assisted evidence, sustainability, and data integrity. The conference will feature insights from the UNCITRAL Working Group III on ISDS Reform, reflecting a broader movement towards transparency and consistency in evidentiary standards. By bringing together arbitrators, legal counsel, experts, academics, and policymakers, BArD 2026 aims to chart the future of evidentiary practices in international arbitration, emphasizing the importance of proof and integrity in maintaining confidence in arbitral justice. The event will take place in Bucharest on June 4-5, 2026, and will include keynote speeches and panel discussions led by prominent figures in the field. Attendees will have the opportunity to critically examine the evolving landscape of international arbitration and consider how integrity, adaptability, and innovation in evidentiary practices can ensure that arbitration remains a trusted mechanism for resolving complex international disputes.
