Austrian Arbitration Academy

The Austrian Arbitration Academy offers an intensive two-week program on international arbitration for students and young practitioners.

About

The Austrian Arbitration Academy is a two-week intensive program that forms part of the univie: summer school for International and European Studies. This course is designed for both regular students of the summer school and participants specifically interested in arbitration. It caters to students and law school graduates who are keen to explore the field of international dispute resolution, as well as young practitioners seeking comprehensive insights from seasoned professionals in international arbitration. Led by Professor Paul Oberhammer, the program features classes taught by distinguished international arbitration practitioners from both the legal profession and academia. Participants will engage in 64 contact hours, covering essential topics such as the arbitration clause, the arbitral tribunal, proceedings, awards, and enforcement. The course also includes workshops and discussions on current issues in international arbitration, providing a platform for participants to interact with experts in the field. The program runs from July 11 to July 25, 2026, with classes scheduled Monday to Friday mornings and additional workshops in the afternoons and evenings. A written exam will take place on July 24, with a preparatory Q&A session the day before. Successful participants will receive a diploma from the University of Vienna, marking their achievement in this specialized area of law.
